The classroom is almost finished...enough to begin classes anyway. Can I possibly thank everyone who has been a part of this project whether through physical work, sharing ideas, or just words of encouragement to keep going? Let me try!
In 2023, The Moore County Chamber of Commerce offered grants to local businesses to help encourage economic development in Moore County, NC. Applying for the grant, a learning experience in itself, was tedious but it helped me to focus on the project and outline the vision. Awarded with the grant in November, it was an exhilarating but terrifying prospect as I had to actually follow through with the project. It has been a long 6 months and lots of hard work, but I couldn't have completed the project without this opportunity. Many thanks for investing in my project!
My friends and major contributors, Joey and Martha, have jumped in on numerous occasions to help with the overall shape of the classroom. Always willing to help, they have cut, measured, and nailed their way into my heart. They saw my vision and encouraged me when I was overwhelmed or afraid of the tasks that were necessary to complete the project. I have learned so much from them.
My new friend and fellow small business owner, Reggie, was so helpful in providing ideas and helping me get the sinks installed. Quick, professional, and encouraging, Reggie was great to work with on this project!
Will and his crew of polite and hard-working young men came in and completed their tasks quickly and with great skill. Ovens should be roaring and mixers whirring pretty soon with some new outlets in just the right spot. They sure made the new kitchen space look professional...and real "purty!"
Addie...my dear interior design friend, gave of her time and talents and provided the right ideas at just the right time to keep things moving. From creating and installing my display window to providing practice consultations with her students in the Interior Design program at RCC, Addie and her people have been an inspiration for this project!
My customers, those faithful people who regularly patronize my shop to support local, have been so encouraging. Many of you take time to chat and listen to my ideas ad nauseam! I am grateful for each of you.
My friends next door, Eden and Mark, have been so helpful, putting together tables, helping me mop up water after a big downpour that one time, donating bowls and such, as well as continuous interest and support during the process! I can always count on an encouraging word from them!
Many thanks to Terri and Ms. Marjorie. Recruiting me to use the space to compliment the coffee shop and add to the features of Middleton Street in Robbins, they gave me a great opportunity. They have worked with me, encouraged me, and continue to collaborate with me in meaningful ways.
To my staff (all those from the very beginning to the present), I must thank them profusely! I have so much to learn in the management department and have made so many rookie mistakes. Thanks for sticking in there with me, working hard, and putting up with all the changes I keep making!
My family and church family continue to listen to my relentless complaining and somehow still love me. I have used the "I'm gonna just quit!" phrase so many times and yet these people still support, encourage, and inspire me to keep trying.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Lord for His guidance and care. I pray almost every day asking for wisdom and for help knowing that I do not have the wherewithal (the money, energy, or other means necessary) to do anything on my own. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Him in this very small way.
